New by Mister Wong: Import Your Twitter Links

We are very excited to announce a new feature which our developers have been working on for the past few months. We launched this feature to our German users two weeks ago and it’s now time to open it up to our international users. And, we’re giving a way a MacBook too!

Every Twitter user knows this situation: After a mere few minutes, tweets are already outdated and get lost in the mass of other tweets. This is especially annoying when a tweet with a link to a great website, funny YouTube video or memorable Twitpic gets lost in the stream.

That’s the past – Welcome to the Twitter side of Wong!

Mister Wong helps keep an overview of tweets containing interesting links and easily lets you save them as bookmarks to your Mister Wong account – the necessary connection between Twitter and Mister Wong is created in a few simple clicks. All of your personal links are displayed in your Twitter link stream forever! And those from your friends stay for 30 days. You can find your stream after the initial import in your profile in the Twitter section.

With so many awesome web-enabled phones available, such as the iphone, BlackBerry Storm, Palm Pre, and Google Android phones like the G1, people are surfing the web more and more from their phones. Now that you can do everything from find restaurant reviews, order movie tickets, check the weather, tweet, even stream live video, we decided it was time to refurbish Mobile Mister Wong, so you can bookmark on the go too.

To check it out just go to www.mister-wong.com on your phone’s browser. You can log in to your account, see your bookmarks, add bookmarks and even tweet them. Of course you’ll still be able to check out the Browser Burners, as well as your buddies’ bookmarks. You’ll have full access to your Mister Wong anytime and anywhere!

Mister Wong Firefox 3.5 Toolbar Update

The Mister Wong Firefox toolbar has been updated for Firefox 3.5. If you have already updated your Firefox to the 3.5 version, and your Mister Wong toolbar has not yet been updated, just click here to download the new version. It will take just a couple of minutes and then you can get back to bookmarking and wonging the web :)

Countdown to the new, faster Mister Wong

Mister Wong has been constantly growing. We’ve taken your suggestions, we’ve added new features, we bought more servers, but we started to have…well…performance problems, which were causing you (and us) some inconvenience. So it’s been a bit quiet around Mister Wong as our developers have been working away to recode the site. You may not even notice the difference, as the new version won’t really change the way Mister Wong looks, but it will certainly change the way it works. The new version will make it easier for us and a whole lot faster for you. So far, the German and Spanish versions of Mister Wong have already switched without problem and we couldn’t be happier. So now it’s time for us to make the switch, which will happen around 1:15 am PST and may take a couple of hours. During that time, you may experience trouble and not be able to bookmark. But we’re hoping most of you will be asleep and not even notice.

New Feature: Share your bookmark links to Twitter

We love Twitter and so we’ve come up with a great new feature. You can now share your bookmarks to Twitter. It’s awesome and as easy as can be.

Now whenever you save a bookmark, you can also choose to share it to Twitter. And, not only can you share it, you can also add your own personal Twitter message.

We’ve even created our own link shortener too.

You no longer have to worry about saving your favorite sites to both Mister Wong and Twitter or using another link shortener, because we’ve got it all in one place for you!

Andy McKee – A True Guitar Hero

This week’s Spotlight is Andy Mckee. If you have never heard of Andy McKee, then we suggest watching the video above. It is nothing less than amazing. Andy has a true talent and a unique style as an American fingerstyle guitarist. Andy started playing guitar at a young age and his influences led him to his style today, which has won him great success. The above video, Drifting, has had over 18 million viewers on YouTube and at one point, Andy held the #1, #2 and#3 spots for Top-Rated Videos of All Time on YouTube.

Andy, who is with the independent record label Candyrat, has recorded four solo albums, as well as one with Don Ross, and also played on Josh Groban’s 2007 Christmas CD “Noël”. He has played before sold out concerts all over the world and is currently on tour, but has announced a new album for this year on his blog.

Feeding the Curiosity: International Tags

Have you ever wondered what a word might be in another language? Or what the tag for love in French might be? Or what people are bookmarking about business in Spanish? Well, now Mister Wong can help with this curiosity with our International Tags.

We’ve started a new search feature, that will not only show you international translations of tags, but if you click on the foreign word, you’ll also see the bookmarks saved under that tag as well. We’re working on this to include all of Mister Wong’s six portals, and have already translated thousands of tags. Soon, you’ll be able to check out all the international tags and their bookmarks on Mister Wong in English(en), German(de), Spanish(es), French(fr), Russian(ru), and Chinese(cn).

You can try it out now already using the tagcloud or by doing a tags search. For example, let’s take Christmas in the tagcloud on the overview page and click on it.

In the right-hand column, you’ll see a box with the international tags. Now we can see that Christmas is Weihnachten in German and Navidad in Spanish.

And if we click on Weihnachten or Navidad, we can also see the bookmarks for those tags.

Have fun learning new words and finding new international sites!
