We had a great time at the Web 2.0 Expo Berlin. It was fun to have so many wonderful people stop by to hang out with us at our booth. Even Tim O’Reilly stopped by to chill out, grab a drink, and chat.
We hope you all enjoyed your time at the Expo and visiting with us as well. Keep in touch and share your blog entries and pictures if you’ve got them.
Newsweek, one of America’s top weekly magazines is in search of new and improved search engines and checking out what the world wide web has to offer. Globally, there are a lot of new ways to search the internet for content. Mister Wong is included among them.
Mister Wong’s Founder and CEO, Kai Tietjen, was interviewed by Newsweek. The article highlights a few of Mister Wong’s key features. We’re not just a bookmarking site. Of course we offer our users a place to save and share their favorite websites, as well as be able to access them from anywhere online, but all of the saved bookmarks become a peer-to-peer search engine.
You can read the article in the Nov 5, 2007 Issue or you can read it now here online.
Finally! Over 20,000 votes were cast and the results of the user voting are now in! We’d like to, again, thank the over 3,000 designers, who participated! Thank you! :)
We’ll let you all know the results from our jury and the following vote for the top three logos by our team as soon as possible. Stay tuned!
And now, the designs, which received the most votes, in reverse alphabetical order by last name:
The Spanish blog Opcionweb.com has put a lot of effort into making a video showing all of the submitted designs of the Logo Contest in time lapse. What a great way to check out all the designs, which you may not have seen yet.
Thank you to Pancho Macías from Salamanca for such a great idea! We’re sending you a Wong Polo as thanks ;-)
After receiving 20.000 Votes, we decided to roll over the voting-period of our Wong and Only Logo Contest until friday.
We decided to send out the voting PIN via private message once more, since the orginial mail has been recognized as SPAM by some providers.
Please note: Only those users of Mister Wong who have registered before the official start of the voting process are allowed to vote (to avoid spam). You can vote for your favourites until friday evening, 24:00 (CEST).
Happy voting for all of those who have not yet participated in the process.
The waiting finally comes to an end. From today until October 7, midnight (CET) you can vote for the “Wong and Only Logo Contest” :) All registered users at Mister Wong can now vote for their 12 favorite designs. As there are more than 1800 designs to choose from, we divided them into categories to make it a little easier.
Every registered user of Mister Wong will receive an email with a voting PIN that allows you to login to the voting platform. Your top 12 designs will then be handed over to our international jury who will cut the selection down to 3 designs
The Future of Web Apps Expo will be held in London next week from the 3rd to the 5th of October and Mister Wong will be there!
We’d really love to meet some people. So, if you’re in the area at the time, stop in and say hello to Fabian and Jodi. Passes for the Expo hall are just £5.
We received so many designs (more than 1800), that it took our team quite awhile to sort through and decide on the best way to present them for public voting. We’ve just about got it all sorted out now. Thank you for your patience!
Next week, we will begin the voting process. All registered Mister Wong users will have the chance to vote for their top 12 designs. Yes, there are a lot of designs, but we will be separating them into categories, which will hopefully make it easier for the voters.
We´ve reached the end of the first phase in the search for a new logo. Graphic artists and web designers all over the world were called to submit their designs and the results are astounding. A total of 3241 designers registered and over 1800 designs were uploaded. This makes Mister Wong’s logo contest, by far, the one of the biggest so-called “crowdsourcing” contests held by a web 2.0 company.
These are the top 10 participating countries:
694 x Germany
476 x France
209 x Spain
186 x China
155 x Mexico
141 x Russia
115 x USA
113 x Colombia
99 x Argentina
76 x Switzerland
Thank you to all the participants, and stay tuned for the voting process to begin. We will inform you within the next couple of days when the voting will begin.
From the 5th to the 8th of November, the Web 2.0 Expo will be taking place in Berlin. Alongside experts such as Tim O’Reilly, who coined the term Web 2.0, and Michael Arrington, editor of TechCrunch, Mister Wong will be there to not only sponsor the Expo, but also be represented with a stand and a speech. The organizer of the Expo has offered Mister Wong’s users a special code (MLVEBE03), which you can use to save 100 € off of the conference pass or to receive a free day pass to the Expo. See you in Berlin!
